Media Development

Trust Media trained a record number of journalists around the world in 2012 at a time when it has never been more important to give journalists the skills and confidence to report objectively and accurately, especially in countries experiencing or emerging from political upheaval.

We work closely with international partners. In 2012 we worked with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation to provide African journalists with advanced financial reporting skills. With the International Fund for Agricultural Development, we ran workshops all over the world – including a session at the Rio+20 Summit in Brazil – to strengthen reporting on rural poverty.

Our collaboration with The Westminster Consortium continued to strengthen parliamentary reporting in fragile or nascent democracies including Morocco, Uganda, Georgia and Mozambique. And our annual Global Security Seminar was held in Istanbul.

We also work with journalists and media organisations to create platforms to deliver objective, trusted information for citizens. In 2013 our flagship platform, Aswat Masriya, will be joined by a finance and business news agency in Zimbabwe.

I have witnessed several defining moments in my journalism career, but my training at the Thomson Reuters Foundation in London is incomparable, amazing and life-changing!
